This page features general, "what to bring" and "expectations" class information for all our locations.

CAN'T MAKE A CLASS YOU SIGNED UP FOR?
Please give us at least 24 hours notice if you cannot attend any of our classes you have signed up for. 
 
WHAT TO BRING TO NEW OWNERS CLASSES....
Your machine.  All its accessories, manuals.  Basic sewing kit. Pencil/pen, notepaper.
 
WHAT TO BRING TO CREATIVE CLASSES...
The items listed on the class' supply list.  This list is available from the local shop where you will be taking your class.  Email us, call us, stop in.  We'll be happy to provide you with a supply list.
 
BASIC SEWING KIT...
Scissors. Pins. Pincushion. Tape measure. Threads. Bobbins.
 
 
DAY OF THE CLASS..
Please be in the store with your machine set up and ready to go at least five minutes before the class' start time. 
 
We ask that you turn off your cell phone while in class. If you absolutely must keep your cell phoned turned on for an incoming call (emergency), please quietly leave the classroom to talk on your phone so as not to disturb the instructor and other students.
 
Bottled water is acceptable, but please refrain from eatting or drinking other food/drink items during class.  This also prevents accidental spills onto your machine, your work and those of the other students. 
 
If you have a medical condition or other health considerations, our instructors will be very understanding and accomodating.  Just let the teacher know ahead of time if you have any special requests.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS


Our Machine Owner 1-5, Singer Futura & H-Class Owner 3, and Serger Owner 1-3 classes are free to those who purchase a machine from a Viking Sewing Gallery. There is a $30 charge per class if you obtained your machine elsewhere (another store, online, Craig’s list, e-Bay, a friend, Grandma, garage sale, etc.) There is a per class charge for clubs and creative classes. That cost is listed next to the class.


When you register for a class, please ask for a supply list. You must bring your own machine.


Machine Owner 1

This class is a general overview of your machine and its functions, including how to thread the machine, wind a bobbin, sew different types of fabrics, make a buttonhole, and sew a jeans hem and a blind hem. You will also learn basic machine maintenance.

Machine Owner 2

Learn how to appliqué and how to use your decorative stitches.

Machine Owner 3

Learn to use the programming and memory function of your machine.

Machine Owner 4

Learn about your embroidery functions: designs, placement, mirror imaging, sizing, and appropriate stabilizers.

Machine Owner 5 (Designer Diamond, Ruby, and SE Only)

Learn how to use connect your machine to a computer, how to do a machine upgrade, and how to retrieve and store designs.

Singer Futura & H-Class Owner 3 (For these machines only)j

Learn how to use the embroidery software and embroidery function of your machine.

Serger Owner 1

Learn how to thread your serger, change stitch length and stitch width, balance the tensions, and care for your machine.

Serger Owner 2

Learn how to use decorative threads in a serger and how to set the machine for decorative 3-thread, rolled hem and flatlocking stitches.

Serger Owner 3 (For the Huskylock S-21, S-25, and 936 and Singer five thread only)

Learn how to do the cover stitch and chainstitch on your serger.
